The Redeemer Renaissance After-School Program offers private music lessons at an additional cost of $38 per half-hour lesson, and tutoring at a cost of $76 per hour. Lessons and tutoring sessions are provided during the regular afternoon operating hours by highly qualified teachers. Contact the Director for more information about these optional services.

Judy Cho
Violin, Viola, Cello, and Piano
Judith Cho is a versatile musician who has studied several instruments. She pursued Doctoral studies in Violin Performance at the Graduate School and University Center of the City in New York where she studied with Itzhak Perlman. She has performed in France, Germany, China, Israel, Jordan and Bermuda. Mrs. Cho has won many prizes and awards. In 2002 she received a Fellowship to the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. As part of winning a number of concerto competitions, she has performed as soloist with the Manhattanville Symphony, the Manchester Chamber Players and the Killington Festival Orchestra. Ms. Spokes is a member of the Army Strings.

James Collins

Bachelor’s Degree: Temple University
Biography: SSG Collins is a Philly-Bred, Washington D.C. based pianist and organist. Collins received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Temple University, where he had the privilege of studying with masters such as Terell Stafford, Bruce Barth, Dick Oatts, Elio Villafranca and many more. Collins regularly performs between his hometown of Philadelphia and Washington D.C. In his travels, Collins has played with the likes of Steve Wilson, Victor Lewis, Rodney Green, Eddie Daniels, Ben Allison, David Wong, and Scott Tixier. Collins takes joy in performing a versatile array of jazz styles, from 1940s swing to the modern jazz of today.

Noah Hocker
Trumpet and Piano
Noah Hocker was born and raised in Portland, Oregon in a musical family. He started piano lessons in elementary school, and added trumpet later on. In college, Noah majored in trumpet performance, eventually earning his Masters from Temple University in 2017. Between 2017-2019 he performed all over the world, and received awards for his performances. He lived in Beijing, China from 2019-2023, where he was on staff at a private music school, teaching piano and trumpet lessons. During this time, he also released three albums of original jazz compositions. In 2024, Noah auditioned and landed a job with the US Army Blues, the US Army’s premier jazz big band. He now lives in Arlington, Virginia, working full time with the Army Blues, as well as freelancing and teaching around the greater DMV area.

Billy Kluttz
Piano and Organ
Billy has been teaching private piano for the past ten years. He studied piano, organ, and voice at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has worked as an organist and music director at several congregations in the Washington, DC area.

Each of our tutors brings their enthusiasm for teaching and classroom experience working as teachers for Fairfax County Public Schools to children enrolled in the Redeemer Renaissance program. Tutors partner with families to engage students as they practice skills and reinforce concepts children are working on in school. Sessions are individualized and held in a quiet classroom space, where teachers and students enjoy a positive learning environment.

Katy Allen
Katy Allen is in her 3rd year providing tutoring services at Redeemer! She is a Special Education teacher at Franklin Sherman Elementary School. Katy is from Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Penn State in 2022. She looks forward to supporting students at Redeemer this year!

Billy Kluttz
Billy found a love for the French language while working with French-speaking communities in graduate school. He earned the Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française from the French government’s Centre international d’études pédagogiques in 2021 and, since then, has helped beginner students find their love for both French and language learning more broadly. He has travelled and/or completed professional continuing education in seven French-speaking countries and hopes to add more countries to that list in the years to come!

Ava Masetti
Ava Masetti is a 2nd grade teacher at Wakefield Forest Elementary and a tutor at Redeemer Renaissance. She is originally from Pittsburgh and has a passion for helping young learners grow and succeed. Outside of work, I love cooking and spending time with my family and friends.
