Z-Tag by GameTruck and the Creation of the Multi-Sport Universe
“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play IS serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” – Mr. Rogers
What is play? Child-directed play can be broken down into choice, wonder, and delight. When children have choice in their play, they develop a sense of ownership and autonomy. Wonder engages children’s natural curiosities by inviting them to create, explore, and imagine. And finally, when children delight in play, they grow a sense of pride, belonging, and inspiration.
Can we make our own ideas and dreams come true as we play? Kids work to create ways to play that combine their experiences, curiosity, physical abilities, analytical thinking skills, social skills, problem-solving skills, imagination, and personalities to learn and create all kinds of games to PLAY! Each child is invited to explore what motivates them and use the maker space to design a game to share it with friends. They feel a sense of pride, belonging, and pure inspiration. It’s a win-win every time!
