Our Program
We believe that children are capable and innately motivated learners. Our research-backed, project-based, emergent curriculum is guided by students’ interests, questions, and curiosities. Through joyful learning and collaborative play, our program is designed to cultivate growth of children’s physical, cognitive, and social-emotional development, as well as their creative problem-solving skills. Our professional and experienced teachers intentionally prepare a creatively stimulating classroom environment and utilize our outdoor setting so children can explore and gain knowledge about the world around them. This close-knit preschool cultivates relationships, which are the foundation of our safe and nurturing learning environment.

Our Facility
Redeemer Lutheran Preschool is nestled on 5 acres in the heart of McLean, VA with various areas for rich learning experiences.

Our indoor space includes:
- Five classrooms
- A multipurpose Try It Lab, which includes a fully-stocked studio art cart, woodworking benches with tools for tinkering, a magnetic wall to design elaborate marble runs, open access to loose parts for design challenges, and a LEGO wall for 3D structure building
- Collaborative learning pod
- Expansive full-sized gym
Our outdoor space offers:
- A fully-equipped, fenced playground which adheres to national guidelines for playground safety
- A natural play area outfitted with sand, stumps, logs, and a nature library for open-ended play
- An outdoor classroom for lessons, story times, gatherings, and more
- A student-led garden for use in environmental education
- Open fields for nature walks, scavenger hunts, and environmental education lessons
Our Curriculum
We closely follow Virginia’s Early Learning & Development Standards and derive many lessons using The Creative Curriculum for Preschool to build a strong foundation of discovery, problem-solving, and critical thinking. Each day, teachers use whole group lessons to connect with all of the children to introduce topics and concepts, small group work to meet children where they are individually, introducing ideas and activities that are just the right level of challenging for each child, and choice time to provide children with ownership and autonomy in their learning.
